International Day of Femslash 2013 - graphics needed
by ralst (ralst)
at February 7th, 2013 (10:30 pm)

International Day of Femslash

It may seem like a long way off but it's never too early to start preparing for this year's International Day of Femslash and FemSlashCon'13. To start the ball rolling we're asking for those of you with a flare for graphics to create IDF and/or FSC advertising graphics. The graphics can be generic or fandom/pairing specific, it's entirely up to you, but they should include the name of the event - either the 'International Day of Femslash' or 'FemSlashCon'13' - the date of this year's event - 20th July (IDF), 20-12 July (FSC) - and the url of the website - http://www.femslashday.com/

This is your chance to make your mark (and that of your chosen fandom/pairing/style) on the International Day of Femslash and share your talents with the rest of us.

Entries should either be posted in a reply to this post or sent to me at: ralst31[at]gmail.com (until I can retrieve the official idf e-mail account).

International Day of Femslash - ARG recruitment
by ralst (ralst)
at March 3rd, 2012 (08:50 pm)

International Day of Femslash

As part of this year's International Day of Femslash we are looking to recruit a team of people interested in creating a smallscale ARG to run over the weekend prior to IDF (date to be confirmed). Whether you're a seasoned ARG-pro - like our team leader - or a total newbie - like me - we need your help. We have just over four months to create this little endeavour and that means getting started right away, with a view to running an even bigger event next year once we've built up a little experience and discovered just how much fun it can be.

Writers, video editors, graphic artists, website designers, vocal artists, plot-bunny specialists, twitterites, facebookians, tumblrers, tea fetchers... are all very welcome and will help shape the very core of our ARG.

If you're interested please e-mail me at ralst31@gmail.com with a subject line of ARG and your name will be added to the team roster.

An ARG (Alternate Reality Game) is a type of narrative (story) that requires the reader/fan/audience to interact and provide part of the story. This may be in the form of working with other fans to solve a puzzle, or talking to a character from the story to learn some of the story. ARGs vary in the amount and type of audience interaction required. Check out Brooke Thompson's article for more information.

International Day of Femslash: Volunteers Needed
by ralst (ralst)
at February 27th, 2012 (09:25 pm)

It is that time of year once more when every young, and not so young, femslasher's mind drifts towards thoughts of summer and the International Day of Femslash. Whether you're a seasoned professional, with a couple of conventions and a ficathon or five under your belt, or a newbie itching to get involved, this is your chance.

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join this year's organising committee and work liked dogs to make sure this year is truly spectacular. Yes, that's right, work. If you just want to keep up with what's going on, trying reading the FemSlashCon blog, but if you want to get involved with making the decisions, coming up with the ideas, and spreading the word, the organising committee needs YOU!

This year we plan to hold challenges, ficathons, a convention, a radio show, audio plays, an ARG workshop, on-video tutorials, live meet-up events and a host of others. So it's going to be a busy five months but you'll learn a lot and have a lot of fun!

To sign up please send an e-mail to me at ralst31@gmail.com with a subject line of 'IDF Volunteer'. Also list any particular area of interest - you can start with those things I mentioned in the paragraph above - as well as any special skills you're brining to the table (don't worry if you haven't got any special skills, I haven't either, but it's never stopped me).

International Day of Femslash Logo Competition
by ralst (ralst)
at January 29th, 2012 (08:09 pm)

The team behind the International Day of Femslash and FemSlashCon challenge you to create a logo for IDF. The winning logo will be used extensively to promote the event as well as being displayed on merchandise in the soon to open International Day of Femslash shop/store.

The logo needs to simple but eye-catching and exude the spirit of IDF and a love of femslash. Copyright and fandom/character specific images should be avoided, but that's the only real restriction, other than originality.

The logo will be used on adverts big and small, and the creator's name proudly heralded on both the IDF and FSC sites.

All challenge entries should be e-mailed to ralst31@gmail.com by 17th February, the winner to be announced the following Sunday.

[please repost to any communities you think might be interested]

FemSlashCon - Fandom Panels
by ralst (ralst)
at May 8th, 2011 (04:12 pm)
Tags: ,

This year's FemSlashCon - 16-17th July - will again include a number of fandom specific panels, but to decide which fandoms are granted that distinction we will need your help. Follow the link below and vote for the panels you'd most like to see (you have up to six choices) and in what time zone you'd like to see them.

Even if you think your fandom is too obscure to stand a chance of inclusion, let us know you're interested, because even if it doesn't have enough interest for a panel of its own we may be able to include it in a themed panel.

We've tried to include as many fandoms as we can but we've inevitably missed some, so if you don't see yours on the list, simply write in the formal fandom name in the text box at the end (please, no nicknames or pairing names).

FemSlashCon Fandom Poll

Feel free to re-post this to other communities etc. (with moderator permission).
